Marching Spartans Updates: Show News & Confirmation Form

Hello Band Students and Families,

I wanted to send out some information regarding our spring marching band season. After taking some things into consideration and exploring some options, I want to notify you of a change in our show for the spring. While we were happy with our show selection and were looking forward to the potential it could have brought, we have decided to switch things up and pick music that is entertaining and exciting to perform, due to the fact that we now have no competitions on our performance schedule for the spring and we will be performing in exhibition. We are pleased to announce that our show for the upcoming spring season will be featuring some of the music of John Williams, including the theme from Star Wars, Rey’s Theme from Star Wars, and the main theme of Superman. We are excited to bring you this show and bring this music to life on the field. We hope to have music available starting next week to send digitally to those who have registered for the spring season.

A friendly reminder that the deadline to fill out our spring confirmation form is next Friday, January 15th. The spring confirmation form can be found here: https://form.jotform.com/203485255156154. Please complete the confirmation form if you (or your parents) have not already done so. Thanks to those families who have already filled the form out!

The rehearsal schedule for the first two months of our spring marching band season has been posted on the Broad Run High School Band Boosters Association website: https://www.brhsbba.org.

A few notes about the calendar:

  • Pre-Daylight Savings: Rehearsals end at 5:30
  • After Daylight Savings: Rehearsals expand to 6:15
  • April will have the same marching band schedule. We are holding off on putting it on the calendar for the time being as it is far away and we are in a fluid Covid environment.
  • Performances are still TBD.

I look forward to the upcoming season as we manage to strive a safe learning environment for all students. As always, please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your continued support of the arts!

Thanks,

Eric Blanks, MMEd.
