Winter Programs

Broad Run High School band students are busy throughout the winter! In addition to preparing for ensemble performances, our program offers two extra-curricular competitive “Indoor”programs:

Indoor Drumline allows students who have an interest in percussion or pit instruments to continue performing in a choreographed, marching-style format. This program is not limited to those students who have played percussion during marching season, we have numerous participants who cross-over from a wind instrument to pick up a pair of cymbals, strap on a bass drum, or even play marimba in the pit!

For our Guard unit, the Winter Guard program allows the opportunity to further emphasize dance choreography, as well as shining the spotlight on spinning skill. Participation in the Fall Marching Program is generally a prerequisite. In previous seasons, our Winter Guard unit has collaborated with units from other schools in order to present a larger-scale program.

The Indoor Drumline and the Winter Guard units will travel to other schools during the season to participate in Atlantic Indoor Association or Winter Guard International competitions.
