Welcome to the Broad Run Marching Spartans!
The Marching Spartans program is an extra-curricular organization comprised of a Band unit, a Percussion line, Pit musicians, and a Color Guard. Registration is held each spring for the upcoming school year; however, accommodation will be made for students who join our program in the fall, if possible. An annual fee is required for participation which helps cover the costs of Band Camp, a portion of the Broad Run High School Band Program, and membership in the Broad Run High School Band Boosters Association (BRHS BBA). This fee will be announced prior to Registration each season and financial aid is available for students who qualify.
We begin our season in August with mandatory Band Camp and, during the school year, rehearsals are held several times per week. Our season runs concurrent with the football season, which also may include post-season play. The Marching Spartans perform as pep band during football games; the band marches in at least one parade; and a field show is performed during football half-times and competitively with other marching programs throughout the region at competitions.
The season culminates with our VBODA assessment, the first step each year to being named a Virginia Honor Band. The Marching Spartans are a long-standing tradition at Broad Run High School, with an award-winning legacy of top placement, to include first placement at USBands Virginia State Championships and placement as fifth in the nation in their Class at the USBands National Competition in the 2013-2014 season.
We’re very excited for the 2015-2016 season, and we look forward to having you – as a student – participating in our great program, and we also are thrilled to have you – as family or friends – partnering with us as we all work together towards continued success.
What kind of day is it? It’s a great day to be a Spartan!
