Committees

The BRHS BBA operates through the Executive Board and members of our Standing Committees and Ad Hoc Committees. Our standing committees are as follows:

Budget Committee

The Budget committee shall prepare an annual budget based on the Band Director’s proposed program. This committee shall be chaired by the Treasurer and includes the President, the Vice-President for Fundraising, and the Band Director. The committee shall consider elements of the Band Director’s proposed yearly program, and prepare budgetary estimates to support the program accordingly. The budget cycle shall follow the fiscal year. Fundraising Committee. The Fund Raising Committee shall develop the plan for raising funds to support the budget and manage fundraising programs. The Vice-President for Fundraising shall chair this committee, and shall appoint the chairs of all special fundraising projects.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee shall keep families informed of relevant news and information, provide information to the band program’s online presence. The committee will develop and submit information pertaining to Band Program activities and news to local radio and television stations and to the school and local newspapers and newsletters. A standing member of the Communications Committee will be a Webmaster who will maintain the BRHS BBA website, its content, and timely updates of information as needed or requested by other Executive Committee members. The Vice-President of Communicaitons shall chair this committee.

Uniform Committee

The Uniform Committee shall issue, fit, and maintain all Band Program uniforms and concert attire. The committee shall also maintain an accurate inventory of all Band Program uniform items. This committee shall be chaired by the Vice-President of Student Services.

Volunteer and Chaperone Committee

The Volunteer and Chaperone Committee shall recruit and maintain an accurate list of volunteers and chaperones, and prospective volunteers and chaperones, along with their interests and availability. The committee shall also contact volunteers, as required, to meet association volunteer needs. In conjunction with the Band Director, and in accordance with Loudoun County Public School policy, the Volunteer and Chaperone Committee shall supervise and provide the required number of chaperones required for each Band Program activity, and designate roles and responsibilities to chaperones as needed. The Volunteer and Chaperone Committee shall be chaired by the Vice-President of Volunteers.

Band Camp Committee

In conjunction with the Band Director, relevant school staff members, Board members and volunteers, the Band Camp Committee will serve as a team of leaders and point persons to secure and manage the resources needed to conduct Marching Band Camp each year. These duties include, but are not limited to, defining volunteer needs, assembling resources, planning and executing meals and snacks and first aid, and maintaining practice space and equipment as needed. The Band Camp Committee shall be chaired by the Vice-President of Student Services.

Indoor Drumline Committee

In conjunction with the Band Director, Indoor Drumline staff members, relevant school staff members, Board members and volunteers, the Indoor Drumline Committee will serve as a team of leaders and point persons to secure and manage the resources needed to conduct Indoor Drumline each year, and act as a liaison between Indoor Drumline staff and the Board of Directors. These duties include, but are not limited to, defining volunteer needs, assembling resources, and maintaining practice space and equipment as needed. The Indoor Drumline Committee shall be chaired by the Vice-President of Volunteers.

Pit Crew Committee

In conjunction with the Band Director, Indoor Drumline staff members, relevant school staff members, Board members and volunteers, the Pit Crew Committee will serve as a team of leaders and point persons to manage the resources and manpower required to support the Marching Band and Indoor Drumline pit crews. The Pit Crew Committee shall be chaired by the Vice-President of Volunteers.

Guard Committee

In conjunction with the Band Director, Colorguard and Winterguard staff members, relevant school staff members, Board members and volunteers, the Guard Committee will serve as a team of leaders and point persons to secure and manage the resources needed to conduct Colorguard and Winterguard activities each year, and act as a liaison between Colorguard and Winterguard staff and the Board of Directors. These duties include, but are not limited to, defining volunteer needs, assembling resources, and maintaining practice space and equipment as needed. The Guard Committee shall be chaired by the Vice-President of Volunteers.

 

In addition to our standing committees, ad hoc committees are formed and function for a specific purpose and for a specified amount of time. These include:

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee will co-chaired by the Vice-President of Communications and the Vice-President of Volunteers. The Nominating Committee shall nominate at least one eligible Regular Member for each office to be filled and report its nominees at a regular meeting no less than 30 days prior to the election meeting in May. At the election meeting, additional nominations may be made from the floor. Only those Regular Members who have signified their consent to serve if elected shall be nominated for, or elected to, such office.

Bylaws Committee

This committee shall be chaired by the Secretary and shall consist of the members of the Executive Committee. The Bylaws Committee shall meet from periodically to review and prepare proposed revisions of the bylaws if and when needed.
